Agility™ can be used by multiple, federated organizations which have their own services, resources and policies. Initially, these organizations are likely to be semi-independent departments within a single enterprise. Ultimately, Agility™ can provide seamless access to external utility/cloud services and resources.
In the diagram, Dept. A does not own sufficient resources to support the current load on a high priority application – App 3 – and so has chosen to use Agility™ to allow the application to expand onto “pay-as-you-go” resources from Amazon EC2. If the load on Application 3 drops sufficiently, Agility™ will automatically stop using the Amazon resources so as to reduce costs.
