February 5, 2007: Blue: Open Source System and Network Monitoring released

Arjuna Technologies announces the availability of Blue, an open source, Java distribution of a system and network monitoring tool. The Blue project is motivated by the desire to provide a Java based, open source offering, that provides similar functionality to the popular NAGIOS® system monitoring tool, which is written mostly in C/C++.

Whilst the Blue project is not sponsored, endorsed or approved by NAGIOS®, it has taken a Java port of the NAGIOS® server and console, and provides Java versions of a number of the most popular NAGIOS® plugins. Blue looks to extend the capabilities of the monitoring model, introduced by the NAGIOS®project, by using the power of the Java platform to simplify system configuration, address the dynamic nature of today's networks and satisfy the need for timely reporting information.

Blue provides a painless out-of-the-box experience with simple installation offering the ability to get up and running within minutes. The Blue project is hosted at http://blue.sourceforge.net/
